Life Millstone of DGVS
Established on 13Th August 1986
1986
DGVS arranged marriages of 251 girls who lost their fathers or were financially unsound in Hamirpur District, UP of Bundelkhand Region.
1989
DGVS served fooding and clothing for the whole village which was affected by big fire which burnt the whole village for around one and a half month of Sumerpur Block of Hamirpur District of
1990
DGVS got more than 150 ponds and well dugged in the drought zones of UP & MP (Bundelkhand Region).
1993
DGVS worked for the revival of Dhashan River of Hamirpur District which is dried due to excess water loss and started succeeding on it.
1997
DGVS planted more than 75000 plants around water bodies of Bundelkhand Region
1998
DGVS developed small forest bodies in districts of MP in Bundelkhand Region
1999
DGVS campaigned Total Literacy Program in 78 Gram Sabha's of Hamirpur District where more than 70000 were made literate so that they can read and write. Organisation was awarded by Lucknow University for its great achievement in Literacy Program.
2001
DGVS worked with World Bank in Swajal Project where the main focus was on community participation. DGVS got community participated in financial setup to get the water drainage system build. Bundelkhand is very backward and its people are financially unsound and its people participated in the great deed. DGVS got two water tanks build in Pipraunda and Gudha Village of Hamirpur and also build water piping system which is life saver for the people of the region.
2004
DGVS worked with World Bank in DASP Project in agriculture field. DGVS's greatest achievementwas that it brought Groundnut as a Cash Crop in Mainpuri district of UP and it increased the financial strata of the region. For this DGVS was awarded by the UP Minister and Worlf Bank Country Head.
2007
DGVS worked with SIR DORABJI TATA TRUST in Rath block of Hamirpur District. DGVS formed around 500 SHGs which were later linked with income generation activities for improvement of financial stability of women of the society. DGVS also trained new youths as PERVERTs who were trained animal doctors and are still serving the villagers and earning a handsome life
2008
DGVS was recognized as an Auditor by UP Rural Development Commissioner for all the Government department of Hamirpur district of UP for the large-scale plantation drive of government. DGVS examined the plantation done by the various Government department and submitted its report to the commissioner. For this, DGVS was awarded with Appreciation Letter and an Award.
2011
DGVS worked with Japan Ebassy in Lalitpur district in Madawara, Mahrauni, Baar and Gauna region. These regions are forest belts of UP and Bundelkhand region. DGVS worked with tribals of the region for their betterment and participation in today's world. DGVS taught them how to conserve the forest and how it can be used for their financial stability. DGVS worked with local people and Up Forest Department for better coordination.
2015
DGVS opened 3 Old Aged Home with UP Social Welfare Department in Orai, Chitrakoot and Lalitpur Districts of UP. All the old aged dropouts of the society live happily ith all their basic need full filled.
2017
DGVS opened Gaushala and Animal Welfare Home where animals who were suffering from diseases or accidents were kept and medically treated.
2019
DGVS served fooding for more than 50000 migrants and financially deprived people who lost their work during COVID19. Fooding was also provided to animals.
2021
DGVS started a Clean Movement of River Mandakini which is treated as a holy river in Chitrakoot district of UP & MP.

DGVS is founded
Dehati Gramothan Vikas Samiti is established on 13 August 1986 and registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with a clear purpose: rural development led by the community.
Where it all beganSafe water for Hamirpur: SWAJAL
With the World Bank and the Project Management Unit, DGVS spent ten years mobilising communities on safe drinking water, hygiene awareness and local capacity building.
1993-2003 | WaterA literacy drive across 75 Gram Panchayats
In Maudaha block, a household survey identified 43,000 non-literate adults. DGVS mobilised 4,300 volunteers to bring them into learning.
EducationRoad safety awareness reaches thousands
With the Ministry of Road Transport, DGVS ran rallies, school activities and driver refresher training in Hamirpur, reaching over 3,250 drivers and 57,000 rural people.
1999-2009 | Public safetyFarmers organise in Mainpuri
Under the World Bank-supported Diversified Agriculture Support Project, DGVS introduced summer groundnut, set up farmer schools and a farmer federation, and formed 350 self-help groups linked to banks and markets.
Agriculture | 350 SHGsSwayam Siddha: women's groups take shape
With Mahila Kalyan Nigam, DGVS promoted 200 women's SHGs and built a federation of 1,700 SHG women in Rath block.
Women's empowermentHealth for mothers, healing for land
DGVS delivered reproductive and child health counselling with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and stabilised ravines in 13 villages of Kurara block through check dams and farmer field schools.

With Trust Microfin Network, 100 women's SHGs were formed. With Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, 720 women in 67 SHGs across 27 villages of Rath block gained support for livestock-based income.
LivelihoodsLand, forests and shelter for older women
DGVS began sodic-land reclamation in Farrukhabad with the World Bank. In Lalitpur, with JICA, it supported forest-management groups and 257 SHGs. In Chitrakoot, it opened a women's old age home for 100 women over 60.

With the Social Welfare Directorate of Uttar Pradesh, DGVS began free residential care and health support for older people in Chitrakoot, Orai/Jalaun and Lalitpur.
Social protectionMapping groundwater across Uttar Pradesh
A GPS-based survey with geotagged photography and community interaction covered 5,960 survey units across districts including Lucknow, Banda, Jhansi, Mahoba, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Meerut.
Water dataSkills that lead to jobs, in four states
In Bihar, 2,850 candidates were trained and 2,524 placed in wage employment. In Agra and Ghaziabad, 250 of 334 candidates (75%) were placed. In Rajasthan, 90 youth trained as Front Office Associates. In Mahoba, DGVS became District Implementation Partner for Atal Bhujal Yojana in nine Gram Panchayats.
Skilling | GroundwaterRural tourism brings income home
With the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, DGVS is supporting homestays and farm-stays across 24 villages of the Chitrakoot division, with technical guidance, skills training and community participation.
Tourism | 24 villagesReaching the North-East and Odisha
Under DDU-GKY, 210 candidates were trained in Mizoram with 170 placed, and 310 trained in Odisha with 280 placed. On 12 June 2026, DGVS announced an MoU with the Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission.
